עוֹבֵד כּוֹכָבִים שֶׁבָּא לְכַבּוֹת, אֵין אוֹמְרִים לוֹ: ,,כַּבֵּה,“ וְ“אַל תְּכַבֶּה,“ מִפְּנֵי שֶׁאֵין שְׁבִיתָתוֹ עֲלֵיהֶן. אֲבָל קָטָן שֶׁבָּא לְכַבּוֹת, אֵין שׁוֹמְעִין לוֹ, מִפְּנֵי שֶׁשְּׁבִיתָתוֹ עֲלֵיהֶן.
If a gentile came to extinguish, they may not say to him, ‘‘Extinguish,’’ nor [must they say to him], ‘‘Do not extinguish,’’ because his resting is not their responsibility. But if a minor comes to extinguish, they may not allow him [to do so], because his resting is their responsibility.

כּוֹפִין קְעָרָה עַל־גַּבֵּי הַנֵּר בִּשְׁבִיל שֶׁלֹּא תֶאֱחֹז בַּקּוֹרָה; וְעַל צוֹאָה שֶׁל קָטָן; וְעַל עַקְרָב שֶׁלֹּא תִשָּׁךְ. אָמַר רַבִּי יְהוּדָה: מַעֲשֶׂה בָא לִפְנֵי רַבָּן יוֹחָנָן בֶּן זַכַּאי בַּעֲרָב, וְאָמַר: ,,חוֹשְׁשַׁנִי לוֹ מֵחַטָּאת.“
We may invert a bowl over a lamp in order that it not set fire to a beam; or over feces [because] of a child; or over a scorpion so that it not sting. R’ Yehudah said: An incident came before Rabban Yochanan ben Zakkai in Arab, and he said, ‘‘I fear for him [that he is liable] for a sin offering.’’
