Beis Shammai say: We may not give hides to a [gentile] tanner nor clothing to a gen-tile launderer, unless there is sufficient [time] that they be completed while it is yet day. In all these [cases] Beis Hillel permit [the act] while the sun is still up.

Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel said: My father’s household used to give white clothes to a gentile launderer three days before the Sabbath. And both concur that we may place the beams of the olive-press and the rollers of the wine-press.
