A fourth-year vineyard is marked with clumps of earth; and orlah with clay; and graves with lime [that] he mixes [with water] and pours. Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel said: When are these things said? During the Shemittah [lit., seventh] year. However the discreet ones place down the coins and say: âWhatever will have been picked from this [vineyard] shall be deconsecrated on these coins.â

[Grapes of] a fourth year vineyard were brought up to Jerusalem [from any place within] a day's travel in every direction. And what were its boundaries? Eilas from the south and Akrabas from the north; Lod from the west and the Jordan River from the east. But when the [supply of] produce became abundant, they enacted that it be redeemed near to the wall. However there was a stipulation [to] the matter, that whenever they wanted, the matter would revert to the way it was before. R' Yose says: [It was] when the Temple was destroyed that this stipulation was [made]; and [the] stipulation was [that] when the Temple will be rebuilt, the matter would revert to the way it was before.
