גָּדֵר שֶׁיֵּשׁ בּוֹ עֲשָׂרָה אֲבָנִים שֶׁל מַשְּׂאוֹי שְׁנַיִם שְׁנַיִם, הֲרֵי אֵלּוּ יִנָּטֵלוּ. שִׁיעוּר גָּדֵר עֲשָׂרָה טְפָחִים. פָּחוֹת מִיכַּן מַחְצֵב, וְגוֹמְמוֹ עַד פָּחוֹת מֵהָאָרֶץ טֶפַח.
בַּמֶּה דְבָרִים אֲמוּרִים? מִתּוֹךְ שֶׁלּוֹ, אֲבָל מִתּוֹךְ שֶׁל חֲבֵרוֹ, מַה שֶּׁהוּא רוֹצֶה יִטּוֹל.
בַּמֶּה דְבָרִים אֲמוּרִים? בִּזְמַן שֶׁלֹּא הִתְחִיל בּוֹ מֵעֶרֶב שְׁבִיעִית; אֲבָל אִם הִתְחִיל בּוֹ מֵעֶרֶב שְׁבִיעִית, מַה שֶּׁהוּא רוֹצֶה נוֹטֵל.
[If] a fence has in it ten stones each of which is a two-man burden, they may be taken. The measure of a wall is ten handbreadths. Less than this it is [like] a quarry, and he may raze it to within one handbreadth of the ground.
In regard to what was this said? [In regard to removing stones] from within his own [field], but from within his friends’s [field] he may take what he wants.
In regard to what was this said? When he did not begin it by the eve of the seventh [year]; but if he began it by the eve of the seventh [year], he may take what he wants.

לֹֹא יִפְתַּח אָדָם מַחְצֵב בַּתְּחִלָּה לְתוֹךְ שָׂדֵהוּ, עַד שֶׁיִּהְיוּ בוֹ שָׁלֹשׁ מוּרְבִּיּוֹת, שֶׁהֵם שָׁלֹשׁ עַל שָׁלֹשׁ עַל רוּם שָׁלֹשׁ — שִׁיעוּרָן עֶשְׂרִים וְשִׁבְעָה אֲבָנִים.
A person may not open a quarry initially in his field, unless it has in it three rows, which are three [cubits] by three [cubits] by a height of three [cubits] — their measure [being] twenty-seven stones.
