Demai4: 7
[If] donkey-drivers entered a town, [and] one [of them] said: ‘‘My [produce] is new, but my colleagues is old. My [produce] is not fixed, but my colleagues is fixed,’’ they are not believed. R’ Yehudah says: They are believed.
Demai4: 6
[If] one enters a city and does not know anyone there, [and] said, ‘‘Who here is trust-worthy? Who here tithes?’’ [If] someone said to him, ‘‘I am [trustworthy],’’ he is not be-lieved. [If the informant] said to him, ‘‘So-and-So is trustworthy,’’ he is believed. [If] he went to buy from [that person, and] said to him, ‘‘Who here sells old [produce]?,’’ [and the seller] said to him, ‘‘The one who sent you to me,’’ even though [it appears] as if they are exchanging favors with one another, they are believed.
