הַדְּמַאי, מְעָרְבִין בּוֹ, וּמִשְׁתַּתְּפִין בּוֹ, וּמְבָרְכִין עָלָיו, וּמְזַמְּנִין עָלָיו, וּמַפְרִישִׁין אוֹתוֹ עָרוֹם, בֵּין הַשְּׁמָשׁוֹת. הָא אִם הִקְדִּים מַעֲשֵׂר שֵׁנִי לָרִאשׁוֹן, אֵין בְּכָךְ כְּלוּם.
שֶׁמֶן שֶׁהַגַּרְדִּי סָךְ בְּאֶצְבְּעוֹתָיו, חַיָּב בִּדְמַאי. וְשֶׁהַסּוֹרֵק נוֹתֵן בַּצֶּמֶר, פָּטוּר מִן הַדְּמַאי:
[Regarding] demai: We may make eruvin with it, and we may make shitufei [mevo’os] with it; we utter a blessing over it, and we recite the collective blessing [formula of the Bircas HaMazon] on it; we may separate [tithes from] it while unclothed [and] during twilight. But if one
separates maaser sheni [from it] before maaser rishon, it is of no consequence.
Oil which the weaver applies to his fingers is liable to the demai [tithing obliga-tion], but that which the carder puts in the wool is exempt from the demai [tithing obli-gation].

הַלּוֹקֵחַ לְזֶרַע וְלַבְּהֵמָה, קֶמַח לְעוֹרוֹת, שֶׁמֶן לַנֵּר, שֶׁמֶן לָסוּךְ בּוֹ אֶת הַכֵּלִים, פָּטוּר מִן הַדְּמַאי.
מִכְּזִיב וּלְהַלָּן, פָּטוּר מִן הַדְּמַאי.
חַלַּת עַם הָאָרֶץ, וְהַמְדֻמָּע, וְהַלָּקוּחַ בְּכֶסֶף מַעֲשֵׂר שֵׁנִי, וּשְׁיָרֵי הַמְּנָחוֹת, פְּטוּרִין מִן הַדְּמַאי.
שֶׁמֶן עָרֵב, בֵּית שַׁמַּאי מְחַיְּבִין, וּבֵית הִלֵּל פּוֹטְרִין:
One who purchases [grain] for seed or for [feeding] animals, flour for [tanning] hides, oil for a lamp or oil for greasing utensils is exempt from the demai [tithing obligation].
From Keziv and beyond is exempt from the demai [tithing obligation].
The challah of an am haaretz, produce mixed with terumah, that which is pur-chased with maaser sheni money and the remnants of minchah-offerings are exempt from the demai [tithing obligation].
Pleasant oil: Beis Shammai [consider it] liable [to the demai tithing obligation]; but Beis Hillel exempt [it].
