In the case of] women, slaves, and minors â the collective blessing is not recited on their account. How much [food must one eat in order] to participate in the collective blessing? At least an oliveâs volume. Râ Yehudah says: [At least] an eggâs volume.

How do we perform zimmun? When there are three, he says: ââLet us bless.ââ When there are three besides him, he says: ââBless.ââ When there are ten, he says: ââLet us bless our God.ââ When there are ten besides him, he says: ââBless.ââ [It is all] one [formula] whether there are ten or ten myriads.
When there are a hundred, he says: ââLet us bless Hashem, our God.ââ When there are a hundred besides him, he says: ââBless.ââ When there are a thousand he says: ââLet us bless Hashem our God, the God of Israel.ââ When there are a thousand besides him, he says: ââBless.ââ When there are ten thousand, he says: ââLet us bless Hashem our God, the God of Israel, the Lord of Hosts, Who dwells by the Cherubim, for the food that we have eaten.ââ When there are ten thousand besides himself, he says: ââBless.ââ In the same manner in which he makes the blessing so do they respond after him: ââBlessed is Hashem our God, the God of Israel, the Lord of Hosts, Who dwells by the Cherubim, for the food we have eaten.ââ Râ Yose HaGlili says: They recite the blessing in accordance with the size of the assemblage as it is stated (Psalms 68:27): ââIn assemblages, bless God, Hashem, from the source of Israel.ââ Râ Akiva says: What do we find in the synagogue? Whether many or few, he says: ââBless Hashem.ââ
Râ Yishmael says: ââBless Hashem, the blessed One.ââ
