[ח] לְפָסִין זוֹ בְתוֹךְ זוֹ וְשִׂפְתוֹתֵיהֶן שָׁווֹת, הַשֶּׁרֶץ בָּעֶלְיוֹנָה אוֹ בַתַּחְתּוֹנָה — הִיא טְמֵאָה וְכֻלָּן טְהוֹרוֹת.
הָיוּ בְכוֹנֵס מַשְׁקֶה, הַשֶּׁרֶץ בָּעֶלְיוֹנָה — כֻּלָּן טְמֵאוֹת. בַּתַּחְתּוֹנָה — הִיא טְמֵאָה וְכֻלָּן טְהוֹרוֹת.
הַשֶּׁרֶץ בָּעֶלְיוֹנָה וְהַתַּחְתּוֹנָה עוֹדֶפֶת — הִיא וְהַתַּחְתּוֹנָה טְמֵאָה.
בָּעֶלְיוֹנָה וְהַתַּחְתּוֹנָה עוֹדֶפֶת — כָּל שֶׁיֶּשׁ בָּהּ מַשְׁקֶה טוֹפֵחַ, טְמֵאָה.
[Regarding] stewpots [placed] one within the other and their rims are even: [If] the sheretz is in the upper or lower [stewpot], it is tamei and the rest are tahor.
[The pots] were [perforated] to the extent that liq- uid would enter: [If] the sheretz is in the upper [pot], all [the pots] are tamei. [If the sheretz was] in the lower [pot], it is tamei, but all [the other pots] are tahor.
[If] the sheretz is in the upper [pot] and the lower [pot] extends [above it], it and the lower [pot] are tamei.
[If the sheretz is] in the upper [pot] and the lower [pot] extends [above it], any [pot] that contains enough beverage to moisten is tamei.
Keilim11: 1
[א] כְּלֵי מַתָּכוֹת — פְּשׁוּטֵיהֶן וּמְקַבְּלֵיהֶן טְמֵאִין. נִשְׁבְּרוּ — טָהָרוּ. חָזַר וְעָשָׂה מֵהֶן כֵּלִים — חָזְרוּ לְטֻמְאָתָן הַיְשָׁנָה. רַבָּן שִׁמְעוֹן בֶּן גַּמְלִיאֵל אוֹמֵר: לֹא לְכָל טֻמְאָה, אֶלָּא לְטֻמְאַת הַנֶּפֶשׁ.
[Regarding] metal utensils, their flatwares and their hollowares are tamei. [If] they break, they become tahor. [If] one refashioned them into utensils, they revert to their former state of tumah. Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel says: [This does] not [apply] to every [kind of] tumah, but [only] to corpse-tumah.

[ב] כָּל כְּלִי מַתָּכוֹת שֶׁיֶּשׁ לוֹ שֵׁם בִּפְנֵי עַצְמוֹ — טָמֵא, חוּץ מִן הַדֶּלֶת, וּמִן הַנֶּגֶר, וּמִן הַמַּנְעוּל, וְהַפּוֹתָה שֶׁתַּחַת הַצִּיר, וְהַצִּיר, וְהַקּוֹרָה, וְהַצִּנּוֹר, שֶׁנַּעֲשׂוּ לַקַּרְקַע.
Every metal utensil that has a name of its own is tamei, except for a door, a door bolt, a lock, the socket that is under the pivot, the pivot, the beam, and a pipe, since these are made [to be attached] to the ground.

[ג] הָעוֹשֶׂה כֵלִים מִן הָעֶשֶׁת, וּמִן הַחֲרָרָה, וּמִן הַסּוֹבֵב שֶׁל גַּלְגַּל, וּמִן הַטַּסִּין, וּמִן הַצִּפּוּיִין, מִכַּנֵּי כֵלִים, וּמַאָגְנֵי כֵלִים, מֵאָזְנֵי כֵלִים, מִן הַשְּׁחֹלֶת, וּמִן הַגְּרוּדוֹת — טְהוֹרִין. רַבִּי יוֹחָנָן בֶּן נוּרִי אוֹמֵר: אַף מִן הַקְּצוּצוֹת.
מִשִּׁבְרֵי כֵלִים, מִן הַגְּרוּטִים, וּמִן הַמַּסְמְרוֹת שֶׁיָּדוּעַ שֶׁנַּעֲשׂוּ מִכֵּלִים — טְמֵאִין. מִן הַמַּסְמְרוֹת — בֵּית שַׁמַּאי מְטַמְּאִין, וּבֵית הִלֵּל מְטַהֲרִין.
[Regarding] one who makes utensils from iron ore, or from a metal ingot, or from the hoop of a wheel, or from sheet metal, or from plating, from the bases of utensils, or from the rims of utensils, from the handles of utensils, from scraps, or from filings, [the utensils are] tahor. R’ Yochanan ben Nuri says: Even [utensils made] from cut pieces.
[But utensils made] from pieces of broken utensils, [or] from fragments, or from nails that were known to have been made from [other] utensils, are tamei. [If one made utensils] from nails, Beis Shammai rule [them] tamei, but Beis Hillel rule [them] tahor.

[ד] בַּרְזֶל טָמֵא שֶׁבְּלָלוֹ עִם בַּרְזֶל טָהוֹר, אִם רֹב מִן הַטָּמֵא — טָמֵא. וְאִם רֹב מִן הַטָּהוֹר — טָהוֹר. מֶחֱצָה לְמֶחֱצָה — טָמֵא. וְכֵן מִן הַחַלָּמָא וּמִן הַגְּלָלִים.
קְלוֹסְטְרָא — טְמֵאָה, וּמְצֻפָּה — טְהוֹרָה.
הַפִּין וְהַפּוּרְנָה — טְמֵאִין.
וְהַקְּלוֹסְטְרָא — רַבִּי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אוֹמֵר: שׁוֹמְטָהּ מִפֶּתַח זֶה וְתוֹלָהּ בַחֲבֵרוֹ בַשַּׁבָּת. רַבִּי טַרְפוֹן אוֹמֵר: הֲרֵי הִיא לוֹ כְכָל הַכַּלִים, וּמִטַּלְטֶלֶת בֶּחָצֵר.
[Regarding a piece of] tamei iron that one mixed with [a piece of] tahor iron, if the majority is from the tamei [source, the newly formed utensil] is tamei. And if the majority is from the tahor [source, the utensil] is tahor. [If it is] half and half, it is tamei. And the same applies [to a utensil made] from chalama and cattle dung.
[A door bolt with] a knob is tamei. But [if it is] plated, it is tahor.
A pin tumbler and a bolt are tamei.
And [regarding] a [door bolt with a] knob, R’ Yehoshua says: [One may only] drag it from this door and hang it on another one on the Sabbath. R’ Tarfon says: It is like all [other] utensils, and may be carried within a courtyard.

[ה] עַקְרָב שֶׁל פְּרֻמְבְּיָא — טְמֵאָה, וּלְחָיִים — טְהוֹרִים. רַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר מְטַמֵּא בַלְּחָיַיִם. וַחֲכָמִים אוֹמְרִים: אֵין טָמֵא אֶלָּא עַקְרָב. וּבְשְׁעַת חִבּוּרָן — הַכֹּל טָמֵא.
The bit of a bridle is tamei. But the cheek-pieces [are] tahor. R’ Eliezer rules the cheek-pieces tamei. And the Sages say: Nothing is tamei except the bit. But when they are joined, everything is tamei.

[ו] פִּיקָה שֶׁל מַתֶּכֶת — רַבִּי עֲקִיבָא מְטַמֵּא, וַחֲכָמִים מְטַהֲרִין. וּמְצֻפָּה — טְהוֹרָה.
הַכּוּשׁ, וְהָאִימָה, וְהַמַּקֵּל, וְסֻמְפּוֹנְיָה, וְחָלִיל, שֶׁל מַתֶּכֶת — טְמֵאִין. וּמְצֻפִּין — טְהוֹרִים. סֻמְפּוֹנְיָה, אִם יֶשׁ בָּהּ בֵּית קִבּוּל כְּנָפַיִם — בֵּין כָּךְ וּבֵין כָּךְ טְמֵאָה.
A whorl [made] of metal, R’ Akiva rules it tamei, but the Sages rule it tahor. And a plated [whorl] is tahor.
A spindle, a distaff, a rod, a symponia, and a flute, [if they are made] of metal, they are tamei. But [if they are] plated, they are tahor. [However,] if a symponia has a receptacle for [valves resembling] wings, it is tamei in either case.

[ז] קֶרֶן, עֲגֻלָּה — טְמֵאָה, וּפְשׁוּטָה — טְהוֹרָה. אִם הָיְתָה מְצֻפִּית שֶׁלָּהּ שֶׁל מַתֶּכֶת — טְמֵאָה. הַקַּב שֶׁלָּהּ — רַבִּי טַרְפוֹן מְטַמֵּא, וַחֲכָמִים מְטַהֲרִין. וּבִשְׁעַת חִבּוּרָן — הַכֹּל טָמֵא.
כַּיּוֹצֵא בוֹ, קְנֵי מְנוֹרָה — טְהוֹרִין. הַפֶּרַח וְהַבָּסִיס — טְמֵאִים. וּבִשְׁעַת חִבּוּרָן — הַכֹּל טָמֵא.
A horn that is curved is tamei. But a straight [horn] is tahor. If its mouthpiece was of metal, it is tamei. [Regarding] its bell, R’ Tarfon rules it tamei, but the Sages rule it tahor. And when they are joined together, everything is tamei.
Similarly, the branches of a candelabra are tahor. But the perach and the base [of the candelabra] are tamei. And when they are joined together, everything is tamei.

[ח] קַסְדָּא — טְמֵאָה, וּלְחָיַיִם — טְהוֹרִים. אִם יֵשׁ בָּהֶן בֵּית קִבּוּל מַיִם — טְמֵאִים.
כָּל כְּלֵי הַמִּלְחָמָה — טְמֵאִים: הַכִּידוֹן, הַנִּקּוֹן, וְהַמַּגָּפַיִן, וְהַשִּׁרְיוֹן — טְמֵאִין.
כָּל תַּכְשִׁיטֵי נָשִׁים — טְמֵאִים: עִיר שֶׁל זָהָב, קַטְלָיוֹת, נְזָמִים, וְטַבָּעוֹת, וְטַבַּעַת — בֵּין שֶׁיֵּשׁ לָהּ חוֹתָם וּבֵין שֶׁאֵין לָהּ חוֹתָם, נִזְמֵי הָאַף.
קַטְלָא שֶׁחֻלְיוֹת שֶׁלָהּ שֶׁל מַתָּכוֹת בְּחוּט שֶׁל פִּשְׁתָּן אוֹ שֶׁל צֶמֶר, נִפְסַק הַחוּט — הַחֻלְיוֹת טְמֵאוֹת, שֶׁכָּל אַחַת כְּלִי בִּפְנֵי עַצְמָהּ.
חוּט שֶׁל מַתָּכוֹת, וְחֻלְיוֹת שֶׁל אֲבָנִים טוֹבוֹת וּמַרְגָלִיּוֹת, וְשֶׁל זְכוּכִית, נִשְׁתַּבְּרוּ חֻלְיוֹת, וְהַחוּט בִּפְנֵי עַצְמוֹ קַיָם — טָמֵא.
שְׁיָרֵי קַטְלָא — כִּמְלֹא צַוַּאר קְטַנָּה. רַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר אוֹמֵר: אֲפִילּוּ טַבַּעַת אַחַת — טְמֵאָה, שֶׁכֵּן תּוֹלִין בַּצַּוָּאר.
A helmet is tamei. But cheek-guards are tahor. If the [cheek-guards] have a receptacle for water, they are tamei.
All implements of war are tamei. A kidon, a spearhead, greaves, and a coat of mail are tamei.
All women’s jewelry is tamei. A city of gold, chokers, earrings, and finger rings; a finger ring, whether it has a signet or it does not have a signet, [and] nose rings.
[Regarding] a choker whose beads are of metal [and strung] on a linen or woolen thread, [even if] the thread snapped, the beads are tamei, since each one by itself is a utensil.
[Regarding] a metal thread [that was strung] with beads of precious stones, pearls, or glass, if the beads broke and the thread alone remains intact, [the thread] is tamei.
The remnant of a choker [is] the width of neck size of a young girl. R’ Eliezer says: [If] even one bead [remains], it is tamei, since [people] hang [it] around the neck.

[ט] נֶזֶם שֶׁהוּא עָשׂוּי כִּקְדֵרָה מִלְּמַטָּן וְכַעֲדָשָׁה מִלְמַעְלָן, וְנִפְרַק, כִּקְדֵרָה — טָמֵא מִשּׁוּם כְּלִי בֵית קִבּוּל, וְכַעֲדָשָׁה — טָמֵא בִּפְנֵי עַצְמוֹ. צִנּוֹרָא — טְהוֹרָה.
הֶעָשׂוּי כְּמִין אֶשְׁכֹּל, וְנִפְרַק — טָהוֹר.
[Regarding] an earring that is shaped like a pot at its lower end and like a lentil at its top, and [it] came apart, [the section] resembling a pot is tamei because [it is a] utensil with a receptacle, and the lentil-shaped [section] is tamei by itself. [However,] the hook is tahor.
[An earring] that was made like a cluster [of grapes], and it came apart, is tahor.

[א] טַבַּעַת אָדָם — טְמֵאָה. טַבַּעַת בְּהֵמָה וְכֵלִים וּשְׁאָר כָּל הַטַבָּעוֹת — טְהוֹרוֹת. קוֹרַת הַחִצִּים — טְמֵאָה, וְשֶׁל אֲסִירִים — טְהוֹרָה. קוֹלָר — טָמֵא.
שַׁלְשֶׁלֶת שֶׁיֵשׁ בָּהּ בֵּית נְעִילָה — טְמֵאָה. הָעֲשׂוּיָה לִכְפִיתָה — טְהוֹרָה. שַׁלְשֶׁלֶת שֶׁל סִיטוֹנוֹת — טְמֵאָה, וְשֶׁל בַּעֲלֵי בָתִּים — טְהוֹרָה. אָמַר רַבִּי יוֹסֵי: אֵימָתַי? בִּזְמַן שֶׁהוּא מַפְתֵּחַ אֶחָד, אֲבָל אִם הָיוּ שְׁנַיִם, אוֹ שֶׁקָּשַׁר חִלָּזוֹן בְּרֹאשָׁהּ — טְמֵאָה.
A ring of a person is tamei. [But] the ring of an animal or of utensils and all other [types of] rings [are] tahor.
A beam for arrows is tamei. But [a beam] for prisoners is tahor. A collar is tamei.
A chain that has a locking device is tamei. [But] one made for tying is tahor. The chain of merchants is tamei [but a chain] of householders is tahor. R’ Yose said: When is this so? When it consists of [only] one link, but if it consists of two [links], or a chilazon was attached to its end, it is tamei.
