[ב] מַקֵּל שֶׁעָשָׂה בְרֹאשׁוֹ מַסְמֵר כְּמִין חַזְיָנָא — טָמֵא. סִמְּרוֹ — טָמֵא. רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן אוֹמֵר: עַד שֶׁיַּעֲשֶׂה בוֹ שְׁלשָׁה סְדָרִים. וְכֻלָּן שֶׁעֲשָׂאָן לְנוֹי — טְהוֹרִין.
עָשָׂה בְרֹאשׁוֹ מֵנֶקֶת, וְכֵן בַּדֶּלֶת — טְהוֹרָה.
הָיְתָה כֶלִי וְחִבְּרָהּ לוֹ — טְמֵאָה.
מֵאֵימָתַי הִיא טָהֳרָתָהּ? בֵּית שַׁמַּאי אוֹמְרִים: מִשֶּׁיְּחַבֵּל. בֵּית הִלֵּל אוֹמְרִים: מִשֶּׁיְּחַבֵּר.
A staff to whose head one attached a nail [shaped] like an apple is tamei. [If] one studded it, it is tamei. R’ Shimon says: Only when one makes three rows [of nails] in it. But all of [the components], when they are made for ornamentation, are tahor.
[If] one attached a tube to the head [of the staff], and the same applies to a door, it is tahor.
[If the tube] was a utensil and one attached it to [the staff or the door], it is tamei.
When does it achieve its taharah? Beis Shammai say: When one destroys [it]. Beis Hillel say: When one attaches [it].
