כִּסֵּא שֶׁנִּטְּלוּ שְׁנַיִם מֵחִפּוּיָיו זֶה בְצַד זֶה — רַבִּי עֲקִיבָא מְטַמֵּא, וַחֲכָמִים מְטַהֲרִין. אָמַר רַבִּי יְהוּדָה: אַף כִּסֵּא שֶׁל כַּלָּה שֶׁנִּטְּלוּ חִפּוּיָיו וְנִשְׁתַּיַּר בּוֹ בֵּית קַבָּלָה — טָהוֹר, מִפְּנֵי שֶׁבָּטַל הָעִקָּר וּבָטְלָה הַטְּפֵלָה.
[Regarding] a chair whose two adjacent slats were removed: R’ Akiva rules [it] tamei but the Sages rule [it] tahor. R’ Yehudah said: Even a bridal chair whose panels were removed and a receptacle remained in it is tahor, since the primary [function] is disabled and the secondary [function] is [also] disabled.
