Ohalos9: 10
[If the hive] is standing in the doorway and there is less than a handbreadth of space between it and the lintel, [and] there is tumah inside [the hive], the house remains tahor; [if] there is tumah inside the house, anything inside [the hive] becomes tamei, because it is the way of tumah to exit, but not the way [of tumah] to enter.
Ohalos9: 11
[If the hive] is lying on its side outdoors, and an olive-sized piece from a corpse is located below or above it, everything directly below or above the olive-sized piece becomes tamei, but anything that is not directly [below or above] the olive-sized piece, and whatever is inside [the hive], remains tahor. [If the piece of corpse is] in-side [the hive], everything becomes tamei.
Ohalos9: 12
[If the hive] is one handbreadth above the ground [and there is] tumah below or above it, everything becomes tamei, except for that which is inside [the hive]. [If the tumah is] inside [the hive], everything becomes tamei.
In what case does this apply? When [the hive] is
a utensil. [However, if the hive] was broken and stuffed with straw, or if it contains forty se’ah, according to the Sages, and an olive-sized piece of corpse is located un-derneath [the hive], [utensils] directly below [the piece of corpse], as deep as one can go, become tamei. [If the piece of corpse is] above [the hive], [utensils] directly above [the piece of corpse] up to the sky become tamei. [If the piece of corpse is] inside [the hive], only that which is inside [the hive] becomes tamei.
[If the hive] is a handbreadth above the ground, [and] there is tumah below it, [whatever is] below [the hive] becomes tamei. [If the tumah] is inside [the hive], whatever is inside it becomes tamei. [If the tumah is] above [the hive], [utensils] di-rectly above it up to the sky become tamei.
Ohalos9: 13
[If the hive] is sitting on its bottom and it is a utensil, and there is tumah below, in-side, or above [the hive], tumah penetrates upward and downward.
[If the hive] is a handbreadth above the ground, or it is covered, or it is upside down, and there is tumah below, inside, or above [the hive], everything becomes tamei.
Ohalos9: 14

R’ Eliezer and R’ Shimon say: Tumah does not enter [the hive], and does not descend from it.
[If the hive] is a handbreadth above the ground and there is tumah underneath it, what is underneath it becomes tamei. [If the tumah is] inside or above it, [utensils] directly above [the tumah] up to the sky become tamei.
Ohalos9: 15
A crypt that is wide at the bottom and narrow on top contains a corpse. Someone who touches the lower part remains tahor; [whereas someone who touches] the up-per part becomes tamei.
[If the crypt is] wide at the top and narrow toward the bottom, someone who touches any part of it becomes tamei.
[If the crypt is] the same width [from top to bottom], someone who touches any part of it becomes tamei; these are the words of R’ Eliezer. R’ Yehoshua says, [someone who touches] from a handbreadth and below remains tahor; from a handbreadth and above becomes tamei.
[If the crypt] is made similar to a chest, someone who touches [anywhere on the sides] becomes tamei. [If it is made] like a gluskos, someone who touches it any-where remains tahor, except at the place where it opens.
Ohalos9: 16
[If] a barrel is outdoors, resting on its bottom, and an olive-sized piece of corpse is either underneath it or inside [the barrel] on its bottom, tumah penetrates upward and downward, and the barrel becomes tamei. [If the tumah is] outside [the barrel, but] underneath its side, tumah penetrates upward and downward, and the barrel remains tahor. [When the tumah is] inside [the barrel] and under its side — if there is a cubed handbreadth inside the sides [of the barrel], everything becomes tamei, [ex-cept what lies] directly below its mouth remains tahor. However, if there is less [than a cubed handbreadth], tumah penetrates upward and downward.
In what case does this apply? When [the barrel] is tahor. But if it is tamei, one handbreadth above ground, covered, or upside down, and there is tumah below, in-side, or above [the barrel], everything becomes tamei.
Ohalos10: 1
[If] there is a skylight that is the size of a square handbreadth in a house, [and] there is tumah in the house, whatever is directly opposite the skylight remains tahor. [If] the tumah is directly opposite the skylight, the house remains tahor.
Whether the tumah is in the house or directly opposite the skylight, [a person] who places his foot above [the skylight] combines the tumah.
[If] part of the tumah is in the house and part of it is opposite the skylight, the house becomes tamei, and whatever is directly opposite the tumah [also] becomes tamei.
Ohalos10: 2
[If] the skylight is smaller than a square handbreadth [and] there is tumah in the house, whatever is directly opposite the skylight remains tahor. [If] the tumah is di-rectly opposite the skylight, the house remains tahor.
[If] the tumah is in the house, [and a person] places his foot above [the sky-light], [the person] remains tahor.
[If] the tumah is opposite the skylight [and a person] places his foot above [the skylight], R’ Meir declares [him] tamei. However, the Sages say: If the tumah preceded the foot, [the person becomes] tamei; and if the foot preceded the tumah, [he re-mains] tahor. R’ Shimon says: [If] two feet, one above the other, preceded the tumah, and then the first person removes his foot while the second person’s foot remains in place, [the second person] remains tahor, because the first one’s foot preceded the tumah.
Ohalos10: 3
[If] part of the tumah is in the house and part of it is opposite the skylight, the house becomes tamei, and whatever is opposite the tumah [also] becomes tamei; these are the words of R’ Meir. R’ Yehudah says: The house becomes tamei, but whatever is opposite the skylight remains tahor. R’ Yose says: If the tumah is large enough that when divided in half it can contaminate both the house and whatever is opposite the tumah, [they are both] tamei; if not, the house becomes tamei, [and] whatever is opposite the tumah is tahor.
Ohalos10: 4
[If] there are [two] skylights, one above the other, each the size of a square hand-breadth, [and] tumah is in the house, whatever is directly opposite the skylights re-mains tahor. [If] the tumah is directly opposite the skylights, the house remains tahor.
[If] the tumah is either in the house or directly opposite the skylights, and an item susceptible to tumah is placed over either the upper or the lower skylight, eve-rything becomes tamei.
[If] an item not susceptible to tumah [is placed over the skylight], whatever is below the item becomes tamei; and whatever is above it remains tahor.
Ohalos10: 5

[If] the skylights are smaller than a handbreadth and tumah is in the house, whatev-er is directly opposite the skylights remains tahor. [If] the tumah is directly opposite the skylights, the house remains tahor.
[If] tumah is in the house and an item, either susceptible to tumah or not, is placed over either the upper or the lower [skylight], only the lower story becomes tamei.
[If] the tumah is directly opposite the skylights and an item susceptible to tu-mah is placed over either the upper or the lower [skylight], everything becomes tamei.
[If] an item not susceptible to tumah is placed over either the upper or the lower [skylight], only the lower story becomes tamei.

[If] there is a skylight in [the roof of] a house, and a pot is placed beneath [the sky-light] so that if [the pot] were raised its edges would not touch the [roof surrounding the] skylight, and there is tumah below, inside, or above [the pot], the tumah pene-trates upward and downward.
[If the pot] is one handbreadth above the ground and there is tumah below it or inside the house, [the area] below [the pot] and [the] inside [of] the house be-come tamei, but whatever is inside or above [the pot] remains tahor. [If the tumah] is inside or above [the pot], everything becomes tamei.
