Nazir6: 3
סְתָם נְזִירוּת שְׁלשִׁים יוֹם. גִּלַּח אוֹ שֶׁגִּלְּחוּהוּ לִסְטִים — סוֹתֵר שְׁלשִׁים יוֹם.  נָזִיר שֶׁגִּלַּח בֵּין בַּזּוּג בֵּין בַּתַּעַר, אוֹ שֶׁסִּפְסֵף כָּל שֶׁהוּא — חַיָּב.  נָזִיר חוֹפֵף וּמְפַסְפֵּס, אֲבָל לֹא סוֹרֵק. רַבִּי יִשְׁמָעֵאל אוֹמֵר: לֹא יָחוֹף בָּאֲדָמָה, מִפְּנֵי שֶׁמַּשֶׁרֶת אֶת הַשֵּׂעָר.
Standard nezirus is for thirty days. [If] he shaved [his head], or [if] bandits shaved it, he forfeits thirty days.  A nazir who shaved, whether with a scissors or with a razor or by plucking a minute amount, is liable.  A nazir may rub or scratch [his head], but he may not comb it. R’ Yishmael says: He may not rub it with earth since it causes the hair to fall out.
Nazir6: 4
נָזִיר שֶׁהָיָה שׁוֹתֶה יַיִן כָּל הַיּוֹם — אֵינוֹ חַיָּב אֶלָּא אֶחָת. אָמְרוּ לוֹ ”אַל תִּשְׁתֶּה”, ”אַל תִּשְׁתֶּה”, וְהוּא שׁוֹתֶה — חַיָּב עַל כָּל אַחַת וְאֶחָת. הָיָה מְגַלֵּחַ כָּל הַיּוֹם — אֵינוֹ חַיָּב אֶלָּא אֶחָת.  אָמְרוּ לוֹ ”אַל תְּגַלַּח”, ”אַל תְּגַלַּח”, וְהוּא מְגַלֵּחַ — חַיָּב עַל כָּל אַחַת וְאֶחָת.  הָיָה מִטַּמֵּא לַמֵּתִים כָּל הַיּוֹם — אֵינוֹ חַיָּב אֶלָּא אֶחָת. אָמְרוּ לוֹ ”אַל תִּטַּמֵּא”, ”אַל תִּטַּמֵּא”, וְהוּא מִטַּמֵּא — חַיָּב עַל כָּל אַחַת וְאֶחָת.
A nazir who drank wine all day is liable to only one [set of lashes]. [If] they said to him: “don’t drink,” “don’t drink,” and he drank —- he is liable for each one.  [If] he shaved [his head] all day, he is liable to only one [set of lashes]. [If] they said to him: “don’t shave,” “don’t shave,” and he shaved —- he is liable for each one.  [If] he contaminated himself with the tumah of the dead all day, he is liable to only one [set of lashes]. [If] they said to him: “don’t contaminate yourself,” “don’t contaminate yourself,” and he contaminated himself —- he is liable for each one.
Nazir6: 5
שְׁלשָׁה מִינִין אֲסוּרִין בַּנָּזִיר: הַטֻּמְאָה, וְהַתִּגְלַחַת, וְהַיּוֹצֵא מִן הַגָּפֶן. חֹמֶר בַּטֻּמְאָה וּבַתִּגְלַחַת מִבַּיּוֹצֵא מִן הַגֶּפֶן, שֶׁהַטֻּמְאָה וְהַתִּגְלַחַת סוֹתְרִין, וְהַיּוֹצֵא מִן הַגֶּפֶן אֵינוֹ סוֹתֵר. חֹמֶר בַּיּוֹצֵא מִן הַגֶּפֶן מִבַּטֻּמְאָה וּבַתִּגְלַחַת, שֶׁהַיּוֹצֵא מִן הַגֶּפֶן לֹא הֻתַּר מִכְּלָלוֹ, וְטֻמְאָה וְתִגְלַחַת הֻתְּרוּ מִכְּלָלָן — בְּתִגְלַחַת מִצְוָה וּבְמֵת מִצְוָה. וְחֹמֶר בַּטֻּמְאָה מִבַּתִּגְלַחַת, שֶׁהַטֻּמְאָה סוֹתֶרֶת אֶת הַכֹּל וְחַיָּבִין עָלֶיהָ קָרְבָּן, וְתִגְלַחַת אֵינָהּ סוֹתֶרֶת אֶלָּא שְׁלשִׁים יוֹם וְאֵין חַיָּבִין עָלֶיהָ קָרְבָּן.
Three matters are forbidden to a nazir: tumah, head-shaving, and products of the grapevine. There is an [aspect of greater] stringency to tumah and head-shaving than to products of the grapevine, in that tumah and head-shaving [cause] forfeiture, whereas the products of the grapevine do not cause forfeiture. There is an [aspect of greater] stringency to products of the grapevine than to tumah and head-shaving, in that there are no exceptions to the prohibition of the products of the grapevine whereas there are exceptions to the prohibitions of tumah and head-shaving —- where shaving is an obligation, and where there is an abandoned corpse. And there is an [aspect of greater] stringency to tumah than to head-shaving in that tumah causes forfeiture of all [the days previously observed] and one is obligated because of it [to bring] a sacrifice, whereas head-shaving causes forfeiture of only thirty days, and one is not obligated because of it to bring a sacrifice.
Nazir6: 6
תִּגְלַחַת הַטֻּמְאָה כֵּיצַד? הָיָה מַזֶּה בַּשְּׁלִישִׁי וּבַשְּׁבִיעִי וּמְגַלֵּחַ בַּשְּׁבִיעִי וּמֵבִיא קָרְבָּנוֹתָיו בַּשְּׁמִינִי. וְאִם גִּלַּח בַּשְּׁמִינִי — מֵבִיא קָרְבְּנוֹתָיו בּוֹ בַיּוֹם, דִּבְרֵי רַבִּי עֲקִיבָא. אָמַר לוֹ רַבִּי טַרְפוֹן: מַה בֵּין זֶה לִמְצוֹרָע? אָמַר לוֹ: זֶה טָהֳרָתוֹ תְּלוּיָה בְיָמָיו, וּמְצוֹרָע טָהֳרָתוֹ תְּלוּיָה בְתִגְלַחְתּוֹ, וְאֵינוֹ מֵבִיא קָרְבָּן אֶלָּא אִם כֵּן הָיָה מְעֹרַב שֶׁמֶשׁ.
6. What is the procedure for head-shaving in tumah? He would [be] sprinkled on the third and on the seventh [days], shave [his head] on the seventh, and bring his sacrifices on the eighth. However, if he shaved on the eighth, he brings his sacrifices on that same day; [these are] the words of R’ Akiva. R’ Tarfon said to him: What is [the difference] between this one and a metzora? He said to him: This one’s purification is dependent on his days, while a metzora’s purification depends on his shaving, and he cannot bring a sacrifice unless the sun has set on him.
Nazir6: 7
תִּגְלַחַת הַטָּהֳרָה כֵּיצַד? הָיָה מֵבִיא שָׁלשׁ בְּהֵמוֹת, חַטָּאת עוֹלָה וּשְׁלָמִים, וְשׁוֹחֵט אֶת הַשְּׁלָמִים וּמְגַלֵּחַ עֲלֵיהֶם, דִּבְרֵי רַבִּי יְהוּדָה. רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר אוֹמֵר: לֹא הָיָה מְגַלֵּחַ אֶלָּא עַל הַחַטָּאת, שֶׁהַחַטָּאת קוֹדֶמֶת בְּכָל מָקוֹם. וְאִם גִלַּח עַל אַחַת מִשְּׁלָשְׁתָּן — יָצָא.
What is the procedure for head-shaving in taharah? He would bring three animals —- a sin-offering, a burnt-offering, and a peace-offering —- slaughter the peace-offering and shave upon it; [these are] the words of R’ Yehudah. R’ Elazar says: He did not shave [his head] except on [the slaughter of] the sin-offering, because the sin-offering takes precedence on every occasion. However, if he shaved [his head] on any of the three, he has discharged his obligation.
Nazir6: 8
רַבָּן שִׁמְעוֹן בֶּן גַּמְלִיאֵל אוֹמֵר : הֵבִיא שָׁלשׁ בְּהֵמוֹת וְלֹא פֵרַשׁ, הָרְאוּיָה לַחַטָּאת — תִּקְרַב חַטָּאת, לָעוֹלָה — תִּקְרַב עוֹלָה, לַשְּׁלָמִים — תִּקְרַב שְׁלָמִים.  הָיָה נוֹטֵל שְׂעַר רֹאשׁ נִזְרוֹ וּמְשַׁלֵּחַ תַּחַת הַדּוּד. וְאִם גִלַּח בַּמְּדִינָה — הָיָה מְשַׁלֵּחַ תַּחַת הַדּוּד. בַּמֶּה דְבָרִים אֲמוּרִים? בְּתִגְלַחַת הַטָּהֳרָה, אֲבָל בְּתִגְלַחַת הַטֻּמְאָה — לֹא הָיָה מְשַׁלֵּחַ תַּחַת הַדּוּד. רַבִּי מֵאִיר אוֹמֵר: הַכֹּל מְשַׁלְּחִין תַּחַת הַדּוּד, חוּץ מִן הַטָּמֵא שֶׁבַּמְּדִינָה בִלְבָד.
Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel says: [If] he brought [the] three animals and did not specify —- the one fit for the sin-offering is offered as a sin-offering, [the one fit] for the burnt-offering is offered as a burnt-offering, [and the one fit] for the peace-offering is offered as a peace-offering.  He would take the hair from his head of nezirus and cast it under the pot. If he shaved [his head] in the provinces, he would cast it under the pot. In regard to what was this said? In regard to the head-shaving in taharah. But for the head-shaving in tumah, he did not cast [his hair] under the pot. R’ Meir says: All [nezirim] cast [their hair] under the pot except for one who was tamei [who shaved] in the provinces.
Nazir6: 9
הָיָה מְבַשֵּׁל אֶת הַשְּׁלָמִים אוֹ שׁוֹלְקָן, הַכֹּהֵן נוֹטֵל אֶת הַזְּרוֹעַ בְּשֵׁלָה מִן הָאַיִל, וְחַלַּת מַצָּה אַחַת מִן הַסַּל, וּרְקִיק מַצָּה אֶחָד, וְנוֹתֵן עַל כַּפֵּי הַנָּזִיר וּמְנִיפָן, וְאַחַר כָּךְ הֻתַּר הַנָּזִיר לִשְׁתּוֹת יַיִן וּלְהִטַּמֵּא לַמֵּתִים. רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן אוֹמֵר: כֵּיוָן שֶׁנִּזְרַק עָלָיו אֶחָד מִן הַדָּמִים — הֻתַּר הַנָּזִיר לִשְׁתּוֹת בַּיַּיִן וּלְהִטַּמֵּא לַמֵּתִים.
He cooked the peace-offering or overcooked it. The Kohen [then] takes the cooked foreleg of the ram, and one unleavened loaf from the basket, and one unleavened wafer, and places [them] on the palms of the nazir and waves them. After this the nazir becomes permitted to drink wine and to become tamei by the dead. R’ Shimon says: Once one of the bloods was thrown for him, the nazir becomes permitted to drink wine and to become tamei from the dead.
Nazir6: 10
גִּלַּח עַל הַזֶּבַח וְנִמְצָא פָסוּל — תִּגְלַחְתּוֹ פְסוּלָה, וּזְבָחָיו לֹא עָלוּ לוֹ.  גִּלַּח עַל הַחַטָּאת שֶׁלֹּא לִשְׁמָהּ, וְאַחַר כָּךְ הֵבִיא קָרְבְּנוֹתָיו לִשְׁמָן — תִּגְלַחְתּוֹ פְסוּלָה, וּזְבָחָיו לֹא עָלוּ לוֹ. גִּלַּח עַל הָעוֹלָה אוֹ עַל הַשְּׁלָמִים שֶׁלֹּא לִשְׁמָן, וְאַחַר כָּךְ הֵבִיא קָרְבְּנוֹתָיו לִשְׁמָן — תִּגְלַחְתּוֹ פְסוּלָה, וּזְבָחָיו לֹא עָלוּ לוֹ. רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן אוֹמֵר: אוֹתוֹ הַזֶּבַח לֹא עָלָה לוֹ, אֲבָל שְׁאָר זְבָחִים עָלוּ לוֹ. וְאִם גִּלַּח עַל שְׁלָשְׁתָּן וְנִמְצָא אֶחָד מֵהֶן כָּשֵׁר — תִּגְלַחְתּוֹ כְּשֵׁרָה, וְיָבִיא שְׁאָר הַזְּבָחִים.
[If] he shaved [his head] following the sacrifice and it was found [to be] invalid —- his shaving is invalid and his sacrifices do not count for him.  [If] he shaved after a sin-offering [which was slaughtered] not for its designated purpose, and then he brought his offerings for their designated purpose —- his shaving is invalid and his sacrifices do not count for him. [If] he shaved after the burnt-offering or after the peace-offering [which were slaughtered] not for their designated purpose, and then he brought his offerings for their designated purpose —- his shaving is invalid and his sacrifices do not count for him. R’ Shimon says: That sacrifice does not count for him, but the other sacrifices do count for him. If he shaved after [all] three and one of them was found to be valid —- his shaving is valid and he brings the other sacrifices.
Nazir6: 11
מִי שֶׁנִּזְרַק עָלָיו אֶחָד מִן הַדָּמִים וְנִטְמָא, רַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר אוֹמֵר: סוֹתֵר אֶת הַכֹּל. וַחֲכָמִים אוֹמְרִים: יָבִיא שְׁאָר קָרְבְּנוֹתָיו וְיִטְהָר. אָמְרוּ לוֹ: מַעֲשֶׂה בְמִרְיָם הַתַּרְמוֹדִית שֶׁנִּזְרַק עָלֶיהָ אֶחָד מִן הַדָּמִים, וּבָאוּ וְאָמְרוּ לָהּ עַל בִּתָּהּ שֶׁהָיְתָה מְסֻכֶּנֶת וְהָלְכָה וּמָצְאָה שֶׁמֵּתָה, וְאָמְרוּ חֲכָמִים: תָּבִיא שְׁאָר קָרְבְּנוֹתֶיהָ וְתִטְהָר.
Someone for whom one of the bloods had been thrown, and he then became tamei —- R’ Eliezer says: He forfeits all. But the Sages say: He should bring the rest of his offerings and become tahor. They said to him: It happened with Miriam the Tarmodite that one of the bloods had been thrown for her, and they came and told her about her daughter who was in danger. She went and found that she had died, and the Sages said: She should bring the rest of her offerings and become tahor.
Nazir7: 1
כֹּהֵן גָדוֹל וְנָזִיר אֵינָן מִטַּמְּאִין לִקְרוֹבֵיהֶן, אֲבָל מִטַּמְּאִין לְמֵת מִצְוָה. הָיוּ מְהַלְּכִין בַּדֶּרֶךְ וּמָצְאוּ מֵת מִצְוָה, רַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר אוֹמֵר: יִטַּמָּא כֹהֵן גָּדוֹל וְאַל יִטַּמָּא נָזִיר. וַחֲכָמִים אוֹמְרִים: יִטַּמָּא נָזִיר וְאַל יִטַּמָּא כֹהֵן גָּדוֹל. אָמַר לָהֶם רַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר: יִטַּמָּא כֹהֵן, שֶׁאֵינוֹ מֵבִיא קָרְבָּן עַל טֻמְאָתוֹ, וְאַל יִטַּמָּא נָזִיר, שֶׁהוּא מֵבִיא קָרְבָּן עַל טֻמְאָתוֹ. אָמְרוּ לוֹ: יִטַּמָּא נָזִיר, שֶׁאֵין קְדֻשָּׁתוֹ קְדֻשַּׁת עוֹלָם, וְאַל יִטַּמָּא כֹהֵן, שֶׁקְּדֻשָּׁתוֹ קְדֻשַּׁת עוֹלָם.
A Kohen Gadol and a nazir may not become tamei [from contact] with their relatives, but they may become tamei with an abandoned corpse. [If] they were traveling on the way, and they found an abandoned corpse —- R’ Eliezer says: The Kohen Gadol should become tamei, but the nazir should not become tamei. But the Sages say: The nazir should become tamei, but the Kohen Gadol should not become tamei. R’ Eliezer said to them: The Kohen should become tamei, since he does not bring a sacrifice for his tumah; but the nazir should not become tamei, since he brings a sacrifice for his tumah. They said to him: The nazir should become tamei, since his sanctity is not everlasting; but the Kohen should not become tamei, since his sanctity is everlasting.
Nazir7: 2
עַל אֵלּוּ הַטֻּמְאוֹת הַנָּזִיר מְגַלֵּחַ: עַל הַמֵּת, וְעַל כַזַּיִת מִן הַמֵּת, וְעַל כַּזַּיִת נֶצֶל, וְעַל מְלֹא תַרְוַד רָקָב, עַל הַשִּׁדְרָה, וְעַל הַגֻּלְגֹּלֶת, וְעַל אֵבֶר מִן הַמֵּת, וְעַל אֵבֶר מִן הַחַי שֶׁיֵּשׁ עָלָיו בָשָׂר כָּרָאוּי, וְעַל חֲצִי קַב עֲצָמוֹת, וְעַל חֲצִי לֹג דָּם — עַל מַגָּעָן וְעַל מַשָּׂאָן וְעַל אָהֳלָן; וְעַל עֶצֶם כַּשְּׂעוֹרָה — עַל מַגָּעוֹ וְעַל מַשָּׂאוֹ. עַל אֵלּוּ הַנָּזִיר מְגַלֵּחַ, וּמַזֶּה בַּשְּׁלִישִׁי וּבַשְּׁבִיעִי, וְסוֹתֵר אֶת הַקּוֹדְמִין, וְאֵינוֹ מַתְחִיל לִמְנוֹת אֶלָּא עַד שֶׁיִּטְהַר וּמֵבִיא אֶת קָרְבְּנוֹתָיו.
[For contamination] from the following sources of tumah the nazir must shave: for a corpse, or an olive’s bulk of a corpse, or an olive’s bulk of netzel, or a ladle full of decayed corpse, or the spinal column, or the skull, or a limb [severed] from a corpse, or a limb [severed] from a liv- ing body that has on it sufficient flesh, or half a kav of bones, or half a log of blood —- [whether their contamination is transmitted] by contact, carrying, or a roof; and for [tumah from] a bone the size of a barley-grain —- [whether its contamination is transmitted] by contact or by carrying. For these a nazir shaves, sprinkles on the third and seventh day, forfeits the previous days, and does not resume counting until he becomes tahor and brings his sacrifices.
