Yoma4: 4
Every day he would scoop up [the coal] with a silver [shovel] and empty it into one of gold, but today he would scoop with a gold [shovel], and in it he would bring in [the coals].  Every day he would scoop with a four-kab [shovel] and empty [the contents] into one of three kabs, but today he would scoop with one of three kabs and in it he would bring in [the coals].  R' Yose says: Every day he would scoop with a one-seah [shovel] and empty [it] into a three-kab [shovel], but today he would scoop with a three-kab [shovel], and in it he would bring in [the coals].  Every day it was heavy, but today it was light.  Every day its handle was short, but today it was long.  Every day its gold was yellow, but today it was red; [these are] the words of R' Menachem.  Every day he offered a half [maneh of incense] in the morning and a half [maneh] in the afternoon, but today he added his two cupped handfuls.  Every day it was fine, but today it was the finest of the fine.
Yoma4: 5
Every day the Kohanim go up [to the top of the Altar] along the east side of the ramp and go down along its west, but today the Kohen Gadol goes up in the middle and descends in the middle. R' Yehudah says: The Kohen Gadol always ascends and de-scends in the middle.  Every day the Kohen Gadol would wash his hands and feet from the laver, but today from the golden pitcher. R' Yehudah says: The Kohen Gadol would always wash his hands and feet from the golden pitcher.
Yoma4: 6
Every day there were four pyres, but today [there were] five; these are the words of R' Meir. R' Yose says: Every day [there were] three; but today —- four. R' Yehudah says: Every day —- two; but today —- three.
Yoma5: 1
They brought him the ladle and the shovel, and he scooped up his cupped handfuls and placed it into the ladle; a big [Kohen Gadol] according to his size and a small [Kohen Gadol] according to his size —- and this was [the incense's required] measure.  He took the shovel in his right hand and the ladle in his left. He would walk through the Temple until he reached the space between the two curtains which separated the Holy from the Holy of Holies, and between them [was] a cubit. R' Yose says: There was only one curtain, as it says: And the curtain shall divide for you between the Holy and the Holy of Holies.  The outer [curtain] was pinned up from the south[ern side], and the inner one from the north[ern side]. He walked between them, until he reached the north[ern side]. [When] he reached the north[ern side] he turned his face southward, walking to his left along- side the curtain until he reached the Ark. Reaching the Ark, he would put the shovel between the two poles. He heaped the incense on the burning coals, and the whole chamber filled with smoke.  He left, walking [backward] in the manner of his entry, and he prayed a short prayer in the outer chamber, but he did not prolong his prayer so as not to frighten the Jews.
Yoma5: 2
After the Ark was taken away, a stone was there from the times of the early prophets, and it was called Shessiyah. Its height was three fingers above the ground and upon it he would place [the shovel].
Yoma5: 3
He took the blood from the one who was stirring it. He entered the place he had [previously] entered, stood in the place he had stood, and sprink- led from it one [time] upward and seven [times] down- ward. But he did not aim in sprinkling either above or below, rather like one who whips.  And this is how he would count: One. One plus one. One plus two. One plus three. One plus four. One plus five. One plus six. One plus seven.  [Then] he exited and put [the vessel] on the golden stand, which was in the Holy.
Yoma5: 4
They brought him the he-goat. He slaughtered it and received its blood in a basin. He entered the place he had [previously] entered, stood in the place he had stood, and sprinkled from it one [time] upward and seven [times] downward, but he did not aim in sprinkling either above or below, rather like one who whips.  And this is how he would count: One. One plus one. One plus two, etc. He exited and put [the vessel] on the second stand which was in the Holy.  R' Yehudah says: There was only one stand there. He took the ox's blood and put down the he-goat's blood.  He sprinkled from it at the curtain facing the Ark from the outside, one upward and seven downward, but he did not aim, etc.  And this is how he would count, etc.  He took the he-goat's blood and put down the ox's blood and he sprinkled from it at the curtain facing the Ark from the outside, one upward and seven downward, etc.  He emptied the ox's blood into the he-goat's blood. And he poured the full [vessel] into the empty [vessel].
Yoma5: 5
And he shall go out to the Altar which is before HASHEM —- this refers to the Gold-[plated] Altar [in the Holy].  He started to daub downward. Where did he start? From the northeast corner, [to the] northwest [corner, to the] southwest [corner, to the] southeast [corner]. [At] the place from which he started [to daub] on the Outer Altar for a [regular] sin sacrifice, there he would finish on the Inner Altar.  R' Eliezer says: He remained in his place and daubed [the blood]. On all of them he applied [the blood] from the bottom to the top, except for this one that was in front of him, upon which he applied [the blood] from the top to the bottom.
Yoma5: 6
He sprinkled upon the surface of the Altar seven times; and the remainder of the blood he would pour upon the western base of the Outer Altar. But those [sacrifices] of the Outer Altar, he would pour upon the southern base.  These and those mixed together in the canal and flowed out to the Kidron Valley. It was sold to gardeners for fertilizer, and one is liable for un-authorized use of it.
Yoma5: 7
The entire Yom Kippur service that has been listed in sequence, if he advanced one service before another, he has accom-plished nothing. [For example] if he advanced the he-goat's blood before the ox's blood, he must again sprinkle from the he-goat's blood after [sprinkling] the ox's blood.  And if the blood spilled before he finished the applications [of the blood] inside, he must bring other blood and he must again sprinkle inside from the beginning. The same [is true for the sprin-kling] in the Holy, and the same applies to [the sprinkling on] the Golden Altar, because each of them is a separate [unit of] atonement.  R' Elazar and R' Shimon say: From where he broke off from there he starts [again].
Yoma6: 1
The two he-goats of Yom Kippur —- it is preferable that they be alike in color, in height, and in price; and in their purchase [which should be] together. But even if they are not alike, they are valid. If he bought one today and one tomorrow, they are valid.  If one of them died —- if it died before he cast the lots, he must buy a mate for the second one; but if it died after he cast the lots, he must bring another pair, and he cast lots upon them anew. He is to say if that of HASHEM died, “Let the one upon which the lot `For HASHEM' fell take its place”; and if that of Azazel died [he says], “Let the one upon which the lot `For Azazel' fell take its place.” Then the second [he-goat] is to graze until it becomes defective, when it may be sold and the pro-ceeds used for donations, for a communal sin offering is not [left] to die. R' Yehudah says: It should [be left to] die.  R' Yehudah also said: If the blood [of the he-goat “For HASHEM”] spilled, [then] the one [designated] to be sent away [to Azazel] is left to die. If the one which was to be sent away died, the blood [of the he-goat “For HASHEM”] must be poured out.
