[If there were] a hundred rows of terumah and one of chullin, they are all permitted in [the case of] something whose seed decomposes; but in [the case of] something whose seed does not decompose, even [if there were] one hundred of chullin and one of terumah, they are all forbidden.

With tevel, its growths are permitted in something whose seed decomposes; but with something whose seed does not de-compose, [even] the growths of growths are forbidden. Which is a thing whose seed does not decompose? For example, luf, garlic and onions. R' Yehudah says: Garlic is like barley.

One who weeds with a gentile among the pungent bulbs, even though his produce is tevel, one may eat from it casually. Sets of terumah that became tamei, if one plants them, they become cleared of [their] capacity to convey tumah, but they are forbid-den for eating until he trims the food. R' Yehudah says: Until he trims and repeats.

[If] one placed an onion in lentils, if it is whole, [it is] permitted; but if he cut it, [it depends upon] whether it imparts flavor. And [regarding] any other cooked food, whether whole or cut, [it depends upon] whether it imparts flavor. R' Yehudah permits [it] in tzachanah, since it is [there] only to take away the foul odor.

[If] one crushed an apple and placed it into dough and it leavened it, this is forbidden. [If] barley fell into a pit of water, even though [its waters] were spoiled, its waters are permitted.

[If] someone removes hot bread from an oven and places it on the mouth of a cask of terumah wine, R' Meir prohibits [it], but R' Yehudah permits [it]. R' Yose permits [it] for [bread] of wheat, but forbids [it] for [bread] of barley, because barley draws.

[If] one fired an oven with cumin of terumah and baked in it, the bread is permitted, since there is no flavor of cumin, only aroma of cumin.

[If] fenugreek fell into a vat of wine, with regard to terumah and maaser sheni, [it depends upon] whether there is enough in the seed to impart flavor, but not in the wood; with regard to produce of shemittah, kilayim of the vineyard, and consecrated [produce], [it depends upon] whether there is enough in the seed and in the wood to impart flavor.

[If] someone has bundles of kilayim-of-the-vineyard fenugreek, they must be burned. [If] he had bundles of tevel fenugreek, he pounds [them], and estimates how much seed is in them, and he separates the seed, but he does not need to separate the wood. If he separated [first], he may not say: “I will pound, and take the wood, and give the seed.” Rather, he gives the wood along with the seed.

[Regarding] chullin olives that were pickled together with terumah olives: [In a case of] crushed chullin with crushed terumah, [or] crushed chullin with whole terumah, or with terumah water, it is forbidden. But [in a case of] whole chullin with crushed terumah, it is permitted.

[Regarding] nonkosher fish that one pickled together with kosher fish: any barrel that holds two seahs, if it contains the weight of ten Judean zuzim —- which are [equivalent to] five Galilean selas —- of nonkosher fish, its brine is forbidden. R' Yehudah says: a reviis in two seahs. And R' Yose says: one sixteenth of it.

Nonkosher grasshoppers that were pickled together with kosher grasshoppers do not render their brine forbidden. R' Tzadok testified about the brine of nonkosher grasshoppers that it is permitted.

All [vegetables] pickled one with another are permitted, except with a pungent bulb. A chullin pungent bulb with a terumah pungent bulb, [or] a chullin vegetable with a terumah pungent bulb is forbidden; but a chullin pungent bulb with a terumah vegetable is permitted.

R' Yose says: Anything overcooked together with beets is forbidden, because they impart the flavor. R' Shimon says: Cabbage of an irrigated field with cabbage of a rain-watered field is forbidden, because it absorbs. R' Yehudah says: Anything that is cooked one with another is permitted, except with meat. R' Yochanan ben Nuri says: Liver prohibits but does not become for-bidden, because it discharges but does not absorb.

[If] an egg was cooked with prohibited spices, even its yolk is forbidden, since it absorbs. Water from overcooking or pickling water, of terumah is forbidden to a non-Kohen.

One may not put pressed figs or dried figs into muryas, because he destroys them, but one may put wine into muryas. And one may not perfume [olive] oil, but one may make wine [into] enomolin.  One may not cook wine of terumah, because he re-duces it. R' Yehudah permits, because he improves it.

Date honey, apple cider, winter-grape vinegar and all other fruit juices of terumah, R' Eliezer obligates the principal plus a fifth, but R' Yehoshua exempts. And R' Eliezer contaminates [them] as a beverage. R' Yehoshua said: The Sages did not count seven beverages like counters of spices! Rather, they said: Seven liquids are tamei, and all other beverages are tahor.

One may not make dates into honey, nor apples into cider, nor winter grapes into vinegar. And [similarly] all other fruits, one may not change them from their natural condition in the case of terumah and maaser sheni, except for olives and grapes alone.  One does not receive forty [lashes] on account of orlah except for [juice] that derives from olives and from grapes. One may not bring bikkurim [from] liquids except for that which derives from olives and grapes. And no [juice] becomes con-taminated as a liquid except for what derives from olives and grapes. And we do not offer on the Altar [any juice] other than that which derives from olives and from grapes.

Stems of figs and dried figs and kelisim and carobs of terumah are forbidden to non-Kohanim.
