[If] a tree's [branches] extend over the field of another, he may cut [them] off to the height of an ox-goad raised over the plow; with a carob or sycamore tree, [he may cut them] along the plumb line. [In the case of] an irrigated field, [he may cut the branches of] any tree along the plumb line. Abba Shaul says: [He may cut] any nonfruit-bearing tree along the plumb line.

[If] a tree extends over the public domain, one may cut [it] so that a camel can pass [beneath it] with its rider. R' Yehudah says: A camel bearing flax or bundles of branches. R' Shimon says: The entire tree [is cut] along the plumb line because of tumah.
