[If] she agreed to bring him a thousand dinars —- corresponding to this, he must contract [to give her] fifteen hundred zuz. But corresponding to appraised goods, he contracts [to give] a fifth less.  Goods appraised for a hundred, which are worth a hundred —- he has nothing but a hundred. Goods appraised for a hundred —- she gives thirty-one selaim and a dinar; for four hundred, she gives five hundred. Whatever the groom contracts, he contracts less a fifth.

[If] she agreed to bring him money, a silver sela becomes six dinars. The groom takes upon himself ten dinars for the basket, per hundred. Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel says: Everything follows the local custom.
