בָּרִאשׁוֹנָה, Χ›ΦΌΦΈΧœ ΧžΦ΄Χ™ שׁ֢רוֹצ֢ה לִΧͺְרוֹם א֢Χͺ Χ”Φ·ΧžΦΌΦ΄Χ–Φ°Χ‘ΦΌΦ΅Χ—Φ·, Χͺּוֹר֡ם. Χ•ΦΌΧ‘Φ΄Χ–Φ°ΧžΦ·ΧŸ Χ©ΧΦΆΧ”Φ΅ΧŸ ΧžΦ°Χ¨Φ»Χ‘ΦΌΦ΄Χ™ΧŸ, Χ¨ΦΈΧ¦Φ΄Χ™ΧŸ Χ•Φ°Χ’Χ•ΦΉΧœΦ΄Χ™ΧŸ בַּכּ֢ב֢שׁ, Χ•Φ°Χ›ΦΈΧœ הַקּוֹד֡ם א֢Χͺ Χ—Φ²Χ‘Φ΅Χ¨Χ•ΦΉ בְּאַרְבַּג ΧΦ·ΧžΦΌΧ•ΦΉΧͺ, Χ–ΦΈΧ›ΦΈΧ”. וְאִם Χ”ΦΈΧ™Χ•ΦΌ שְׁנ֡יה֢ם Χ©ΧΦΈΧ•Φ΄Χ™ΧŸ, Χ”Φ·ΧžΦ°ΧžΦ»Χ ΦΌΦΆΧ” ΧΧ•ΦΉΧžΦ΅Χ¨ ΧœΦΈΧ”ΦΆΧ: ,,הַצְבִּיגוּ”. Χ•ΦΌΧžΦΈΧ” Χ”Φ΅ΧŸ ΧžΧ•ΦΉΧ¦Φ΄Χ™ΧΦ΄Χ™ΧŸ? אַחַΧͺ אוֹ שְׁΧͺַּיִם, Χ•Φ°ΧΦ΅Χ™ΧŸ ΧžΧ•ΦΉΧ¦Φ΄Χ™ΧΦ΄Χ™ΧŸ ΧΦ²Χ’Φ»Χ“ΦΌΦΈΧœ Χ‘ΦΌΦ·ΧžΦΌΦ΄Χ§Φ°Χ“ΦΌΦΈΧ©Χ.
At first, whoever wanted to remove [the ashes] from the Altar, did so. In case there were many, they ran and ascended the ramp, and whoever preceded his colleague into the four cubits, won.  If two of them were even, the administrator would say to them, β€œPut out a finger.” What did they put out? One or two [fingers], but they did not put out a thumb in the Temple.
