A door bolt which has a knob at its end — R’ Eliezer prohibits [its use]; but R’ Yose permits.
Said R’ Eliezer: It happened that in the synagogue in Tiberias they were accus-tomed to permit this, until Rabban Gamliel and the Sages came and forbade it to them.
R’ Yose says: They were accustomed to forbid this; Rabban Gamliel and the Sages came and permitted it to them.
