A major rule was stated concerning the seventh [year]: Whatever is a human food, or an animal food, or a dyestuff, and does not endure in the ground — possesses seventh [-year sanctity], and money [exchanged] for it possesses seventh [-year sanctity]; it is subject to biur, and money [exchanged] for it is subject to biur. Which is [this]? The leaf of the wild luf, leaf of mint, endives, leeks, portulaca, and the milky blossom; animal food: thorns and thistles; dyestuff: aftergrowth of isatis, and safflower — these possess seventh [-year sanctity], and money [exchanged] for them possesses seventh [-year sanctity]; these are subject to biur, and money [exchanged] for them is subject to biur.
