A widow, either after erusin or after marriage, may sell without [the sanction of] a court. R’ Shimon says: After marriage, she may sell without [the sanction of] a court; after erusin, she may not sell, except with [the sanction of] a court, because she is not entitled to sustenance, and whoever is not entitled to sustenance may not sell, except with [the sanction of] a court.
