[If] one finds fruit on the road and picks it up to eat, and then decides to place [it] in a sheltered spot [instead], he may not place [it] in a sheltered spot until he tithes [it]. But if he initially picked it up so that it not be destroyed, he is exempt [from tithing it]. Whatever a person is not permitted to sell [in a state of] demai, he may not send to his friend [in a state of] demai. R’ Yose permits [sending] definitely [untithed produce], provided that he informs him.

One who wishes to trim the leaves of vegetables to lighten his burden may not discard [the leaves] until he tithes [them]. One who purchases vegetables in the market and decides to return [them] may not return [them] until he tithes [them], since [the transaction] is lacking nothing but counting. [If] one was standing and purchasing [a load of vegetables], and saw another load better than [the first], it is permitted to return [the first load], since he did not draw [it].
