[If] someone is thinning out the vines, just as he thins out within his own, so does he thin out that of the poor; these are the words of R' Yehudah. R' Meir says: With his own, he is permitted; but he is not permitted with that of the poor.

What is an oleles? Any [cluster] that has neither shoulder nor pendant. If it has either shoulder or pendant, it belongs to the owner; if there is a doubt, it belongs to the poor.  An oleles on a joint —- if it is cut off together with the cluster, it belongs to the owner; but if not, it belongs to the poor.  A single grape —- R' Yehudah says: [It is considered] a cluster; but the Sages say: [It is considered] an oleles.
