[Regarding] someone who has a seminal emission on the third day of his zav count, Beis Shammai say: He forfeits [the] two preceding days. But Beis Hillel say: He has forfeited only that day. R’ Yishmael says: One who has a [seminal] emission on the second [day of his zav count] forfeits the preceding [day]. R’ Akiva says: Both someone who has a [seminal] emission on the second [day] and someone who has a [seminal emission] on the third [day], Beis Shammai say [that] he has forfeited [the] two preceding days and Beis Hillel say [that] he has forfeited only that day. And they agree in [a case where] he has a [semi-nal] emission on the fourth [day], that he has forfeited only that day, [but only] when he has an emission of semen. But if he had a zov emission, even on the seventh day, he has forfeited [all] the preceding [days].
Zavim1: 3
[If one] had one [zov] emission today and two on the following day, [or] two today and one on the following day, [or] three [zov emissions] on three [consecutive] days or on three [consecutive] nights, he is a full zav.
Zavim1: 4
[If a person] had one [zov] emission and then stopped for [the length of] time it takes to immerse and dry [himself off], and then he had two emissions or a single emission that is as lengthy as two [emissions], or he had two [zov emissions] or a sin-gle emission as lengthy as two, and stopped for the time it takes to immerse and dry [himself off], and then he had one [emission], he is a full zav.
Zavim1: 5
[If one] had a single [zov] emission [that is] as lengthy as three [emissions], which is equivalent [in duration] to [the time it takes to walk] from Gad Yavan to Shiloah, which is equivalent to [the length of time of] two immersions and two dryings off, he is a full zav. [If] he had a single [zov emission] as lengthy as two [emissions], he conveys tumah to couches and seats, and requires immersion in a spring, but he is exempt from an offering. R’ Yose said: They did not say that a single lengthy [emission is counted as multiple emissions] unless it is as [lengthy as] three.
