[ז] הַכְּדוּמִין הָאַשְׁקְלוֹנִין שֶׁנִּשְׁבְּרוּ וְהָאֻנְקְלִי שֶׁלָּהֶן קַיֶּמֶת — הֲרֵי אֵלּוּ טְמֵאִין. הַמַּעְבֵּר, וְהַמִּזְרֶה, וְהַמַּגּוֹב, וְכֵן מַסְרֵק שֶׁל רֹאשׁ שֶׁנִּטְּלָה אַחַת מִשִּׁנֵּיהֶן וַעֲשָׂאָן שֶׁל מַתֶּכֶת — הֲרֵי אֵלּוּ טְמֵאִין. וְעַל כֻּלָּן אָמַר רַבִּי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ: דְּבַר חִדּוּשׁ חִדְּשׁוּ סוֹפְרִים, וְאֵין לִי מָה אָשִׁיב.
[Regarding] Ashkelonian grapnels that broke but their hook remains intact, they are tamei. A pitchfork, a winnowing fork, a rake, and similarly a head comb that had one of their prongs removed and one replaced them with [a prong] of metal, they are tamei. And concerning all of these R’ Yehoshua said: The Scribes have introduced a novel principle, and I cannot answer it.

[ח] מַסְרֵק שֶׁל פִּשְׁתָּן שֶׁנִּטְּלוּ שִׁנָּיו וְנִשְׁתַּיֵּר בּוֹ שְׁתַּיִם — טָמֵא, וְאַחַת — טָהוֹר. וְכֻלָּן אַחַת אַחַת בִּפְנֵי עַצְמָן — טְמֵאוֹת. וְשֶׁל צֶמֶר שֶׁנִּטְּלוּ שִׁנָּיו אַחַת מִבֵּינְתַיִם — טָהוֹר. נִשְׁתַּיֵּר בּוֹ שָׁלֹשׁ בְּמָקוֹם אֶחָד — טָמֵא. הָיְתָה הַחִיצוֹנָה אַחַת מֵהֶן — טָהוֹר. נִטְּלוּ מִמֶּנוּ שְׁתַּיִם וַעֲשָׂאָן לְמַלְקֶטֶת — טְמֵאוֹת. אַחַת וְהִתְקִינָהּ לְנֵר אוֹ לְמִתּוּחַ — טְמֵאָה.
A comb for flax whose teeth were removed, but two remained in it, is tamei. But [if] one [remained], it is tahor. And all of [the teeth] by themselves are tamei. And [a comb] for wool whose teeth were removed one from every two is tahor. [If] there remain three [teeth] in one place, it is tamei. [If] the outermost tooth was one of them, it is tahor. [If] two teeth were removed from [the comb] and one made them into tweezers, they are tamei. [If] one [tooth was removed] and one prepared it for [use with] a lamp or for stretching, it is tamei.
Keilim14: 1
[א] כְּלֵי מַתָּכוֹת כַּמָּה הוּא שִׁעוּרָן? הַדְּלִי — כְּדֵי לְמַלֹּאות בּוֹ. קֻמְקוּם — כְּדֵי לְיַחֵם בּוֹ. מֵיחַם — כְּדֵי לְקַבֵּל סְלָעִים. הַלֶּפֶס — כְּדֵי לְקַבֵּל קִיתוֹנוֹת. קִיתוֹנוֹת — כְּדֵי לְקַבֵּל פְּרוּטוֹת. מִדּוֹת יַיִן — בְּיַיִן, וּמִדּוֹת שֶׁמֶן — בְּשָׁמֶן. רַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר אוֹמֵר: כֻּלָּן בִּפְרוּטוֹת. רַבִּי עֲקִיבָא אוֹמֵר: הַמְחֻסָּר חֲטִיפָה — טָמֵא, וְהַמְחֻסָּר לְטִישָׁה — טָהוֹר.
What is the measure for [damaged] metal utensils? A bucket, sufficient to draw [water] with it. A kettle, sufficient to heat water with it. A boiler, sufficient to hold selas. A stewpot, sufficient to hold ladles. Ladles, sufficient to hold perutos. Wine measures [are calculated] with wine. And oil measures [are calculated] with oil. R’ Eliezer says: All of them [are calculated] with perutos. R’ Akiva says: A [utensil] that lacks a cover is tamei. But [a utensil] lacking hammering is tahor.
Keilim14: 2
[ב] מַקֵּל שֶׁעָשָׂה בְרֹאשׁוֹ מַסְמֵר כְּמִין חַזְיָנָא — טָמֵא. סִמְּרוֹ — טָמֵא. רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן אוֹמֵר: עַד שֶׁיַּעֲשֶׂה בוֹ שְׁלשָׁה סְדָרִים. וְכֻלָּן שֶׁעֲשָׂאָן לְנוֹי — טְהוֹרִין. עָשָׂה בְרֹאשׁוֹ מֵנֶקֶת, וְכֵן בַּדֶּלֶת — טְהוֹרָה. הָיְתָה כֶלִי וְחִבְּרָהּ לוֹ — טְמֵאָה. מֵאֵימָתַי הִיא טָהֳרָתָהּ? בֵּית שַׁמַּאי אוֹמְרִים: מִשֶּׁיְּחַבֵּל. בֵּית הִלֵּל אוֹמְרִים: מִשֶּׁיְּחַבֵּר.
A staff to whose head one attached a nail [shaped] like an apple is tamei. [If] one studded it, it is tamei. R’ Shimon says: Only when one makes three rows [of nails] in it. But all of [the components], when they are made for ornamentation, are tahor. [If] one attached a tube to the head [of the staff], and the same applies to a door, it is tahor. [If the tube] was a utensil and one attached it to [the staff or the door], it is tamei. When does it achieve its taharah? Beis Shammai say: When one destroys [it]. Beis Hillel say: When one attaches [it].
