[ח] קַסְדָּא — טְמֵאָה, וּלְחָיַיִם — טְהוֹרִים. אִם יֵשׁ בָּהֶן בֵּית קִבּוּל מַיִם — טְמֵאִים. כָּל כְּלֵי הַמִּלְחָמָה — טְמֵאִים: הַכִּידוֹן, הַנִּקּוֹן, וְהַמַּגָּפַיִן, וְהַשִּׁרְיוֹן — טְמֵאִין. כָּל תַּכְשִׁיטֵי נָשִׁים — טְמֵאִים: עִיר שֶׁל זָהָב, קַטְלָיוֹת, נְזָמִים, וְטַבָּעוֹת, וְטַבַּעַת — בֵּין שֶׁיֵּשׁ לָהּ חוֹתָם וּבֵין שֶׁאֵין לָהּ חוֹתָם, נִזְמֵי הָאַף. קַטְלָא שֶׁחֻלְיוֹת שֶׁלָהּ שֶׁל מַתָּכוֹת בְּחוּט שֶׁל פִּשְׁתָּן אוֹ שֶׁל צֶמֶר, נִפְסַק הַחוּט — הַחֻלְיוֹת טְמֵאוֹת, שֶׁכָּל אַחַת כְּלִי בִּפְנֵי עַצְמָהּ. חוּט שֶׁל מַתָּכוֹת, וְחֻלְיוֹת שֶׁל אֲבָנִים טוֹבוֹת וּמַרְגָלִיּוֹת, וְשֶׁל זְכוּכִית, נִשְׁתַּבְּרוּ חֻלְיוֹת, וְהַחוּט בִּפְנֵי עַצְמוֹ קַיָם — טָמֵא. שְׁיָרֵי קַטְלָא — כִּמְלֹא צַוַּאר קְטַנָּה. רַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר אוֹמֵר: אֲפִילּוּ טַבַּעַת אַחַת — טְמֵאָה, שֶׁכֵּן תּוֹלִין בַּצַּוָּאר.
A helmet is tamei. But cheek-guards are tahor. If the [cheek-guards] have a receptacle for water, they are tamei. All implements of war are tamei. A kidon, a spearhead, greaves, and a coat of mail are tamei. All women’s jewelry is tamei. A city of gold, chokers, earrings, and finger rings; a finger ring, whether it has a signet or it does not have a signet, [and] nose rings. [Regarding] a choker whose beads are of metal [and strung] on a linen or woolen thread, [even if] the thread snapped, the beads are tamei, since each one by itself is a utensil. [Regarding] a metal thread [that was strung] with beads of precious stones, pearls, or glass, if the beads broke and the thread alone remains intact, [the thread] is tamei. The remnant of a choker [is] the width of neck size of a young girl. R’ Eliezer says: [If] even one bead [remains], it is tamei, since [people] hang [it] around the neck.

[ט] נֶזֶם שֶׁהוּא עָשׂוּי כִּקְדֵרָה מִלְּמַטָּן וְכַעֲדָשָׁה מִלְמַעְלָן, וְנִפְרַק, כִּקְדֵרָה — טָמֵא מִשּׁוּם כְּלִי בֵית קִבּוּל, וְכַעֲדָשָׁה — טָמֵא בִּפְנֵי עַצְמוֹ. צִנּוֹרָא — טְהוֹרָה. הֶעָשׂוּי כְּמִין אֶשְׁכֹּל, וְנִפְרַק — טָהוֹר.
[Regarding] an earring that is shaped like a pot at its lower end and like a lentil at its top, and [it] came apart, [the section] resembling a pot is tamei because [it is a] utensil with a receptacle, and the lentil-shaped [section] is tamei by itself. [However,] the hook is tahor. [An earring] that was made like a cluster [of grapes], and it came apart, is tahor.

[א] טַבַּעַת אָדָם — טְמֵאָה. טַבַּעַת בְּהֵמָה וְכֵלִים וּשְׁאָר כָּל הַטַבָּעוֹת — טְהוֹרוֹת. קוֹרַת הַחִצִּים — טְמֵאָה, וְשֶׁל אֲסִירִים — טְהוֹרָה. קוֹלָר — טָמֵא. שַׁלְשֶׁלֶת שֶׁיֵשׁ בָּהּ בֵּית נְעִילָה — טְמֵאָה. הָעֲשׂוּיָה לִכְפִיתָה — טְהוֹרָה. שַׁלְשֶׁלֶת שֶׁל סִיטוֹנוֹת — טְמֵאָה, וְשֶׁל בַּעֲלֵי בָתִּים — טְהוֹרָה. אָמַר רַבִּי יוֹסֵי: אֵימָתַי? בִּזְמַן שֶׁהוּא מַפְתֵּחַ אֶחָד, אֲבָל אִם הָיוּ שְׁנַיִם, אוֹ שֶׁקָּשַׁר חִלָּזוֹן בְּרֹאשָׁהּ — טְמֵאָה.
A ring of a person is tamei. [But] the ring of an animal or of utensils and all other [types of] rings [are] tahor. A beam for arrows is tamei. But [a beam] for prisoners is tahor. A collar is tamei. A chain that has a locking device is tamei. [But] one made for tying is tahor. The chain of merchants is tamei [but a chain] of householders is tahor. R’ Yose said: When is this so? When it consists of [only] one link, but if it consists of two [links], or a chilazon was attached to its end, it is tamei.

[ב] קְנֵה מֹאזְנַיִם שֶׁל סָרוֹקוֹת — טָמֵא, מִפְּנֵי אוּנְקְלָיוֹת; וְשֶׁל בַּעֲלֵי בָתִּים, אִם יֶשׁ בּוֹ אֻנְקְלָיוֹת — טָמֵא. אֻנְקְלִין שֶׁל כַּתָּפִים — טְהוֹרָה, וְשֶׁל רוֹכְלִים — טְמֵאָה. רַבִּי יְהוּדָה אוֹמֵר: שֶׁל רוֹכְלִים, שֶׁלְּפָנָיו — טְמֵאָה, וְשֶׁלְּאַחֲרָיו — טְהוֹרָה. אֻנְקְלִי דַרְגָּשׁ — טְמֵאָה, וְשֶׁל נַקְלִיטִין — טְהוֹרָה. שֶׁל שִׁדָּה — טְמֵאָה, וְשֶׁל אַקּוֹן — טְהוֹרָה. שֶׁל שֻׁלְחָן — טְמֵאָה. שֶׁל מְנוֹרַת הָעֵץ — טְהוֹרָה. זֶה הַכְּלָל: כָּל הַמְחֻבָּר לַטָּמֵא — טָמֵא, וְהַמְחֻבָּר לַטָּהוֹר — טָהוֹר. וְכֻלָּן אַחַת אַחַת בִּפְנֵי עַצְמָן — טְהוֹרוֹת.
The beam of a comber’s balance scale is tamei, on account of [its] hooks. And [the beam of the balance scale] of householders, if it has hooks, it is tamei. Hooks [on the poles] of porters are tahor. But hooks [on the poles] of peddlers are tamei. R’ Yehudah says: [With regard to the hooks] of peddlers, that which is in front of him is tamei, but that which is behind him is tahor. The hooks of a dargash are tamei. But [the hooks] of bed poles are tahor. [The hook] of a chest is tamei. But [the hook] of a fish trap is tahor. [The hook] of a table is tamei. [But the hook] of a wooden candelabra is tahor. This is the general rule: Anything attached to that which is tamei is [itself] tamei. And anything attached to that which is tahor is [itself] tahor. [And regarding] all of these [hooks], each one on its own is tahor.
