[If] one supports his wife through a third party he may not give her less than two kavin of wheat or four kavin of barley. Said R’ Yose: No one provided her with barley except R’ Yishmael, who was near Edom. He must give her half a kav of beans, half a log of oil, and a kav of dried figs or a maneh of pressed figs. If he has none, he must provide her, in their stead, with produce of an-other kind. He must give her a bed, a mattress, and a mat; he must give her a veil for her head, a girdle for her loins, shoes from festival to festival, and clothes worth fifty zuz from year to year. She may not be given new ones in the summer or worn ones in the winter, but must be given clothing worth fifty zuz in the winter, and she clothes herself with them when they are worn out in the summer; and the worn-out clothing is hers.
Kesuvos5: 9
He must give her a silver maah for her needs, and she eats with him on the night of every Sabbath. If he does not give her a sil-ver maah for her needs, her handiwork is hers. What must she do for him? The weight of five selaim of warp in Judea, which equals ten selaim in Galilee, or the weight of ten selaim of woof in Judea, which equals twenty selaim in Galilee. If she was nurs-ing, they decrease her handiwork [requirement] and add to her food. When does this apply? [In [the case of] the poorest in Isra-el, but in [the case of] the wealthy, everything is according to his wealth.
Kesuvos6: 1
A woman’s findings and her handiwork belong to her husband, but her inheritance —- he enjoys the usufruct during her lifetime. [Restitution for] her disgrace and impairment belongs to her. R’ Yehudah ben Beseirah says: When it is in a hidden place, two thirds belong to her, and one [third] to him; when it is in the open, two thirds belong to him and one [third] to her. His [share] is given [to him] immediately, but [as for] hers —- land is bought with it, and he enjoys the usufruct.
Kesuvos6: 2
[If] one agrees to give money to his son-in-law, and his son-in-law dies —- the Sages said: He can say: “To your brother I wanted to give, but to you I do not want to give.”
