Yoma6: 6
מֶה הָיָה עוֹשֶׂה? חוֹלֵק לָשׁוֹן שֶׁל זְהוֹרִית; חֶצְיוֹ קָשַׁר בַּסֶּלַע וְחֶצְיוֹ קָשַׁר בֵּין שְׁתֵּי קַרְנָיו, וּדְחָפוֹ לַאֲחוֹרָיו. וְהוּא מִתְגַּלְגֵּל וְיוֹרֵד, וְלֹא הָיָה מַגִּיעַ לַחֲצִי הָהָר, עַד שֶׁנַּעֲשָׂה אֵבָרִים אֵבָרִים. בָּא וְיָשַׁב לוֹ תַּחַת סֻכָּה אַחֲרוֹנָה עַד שֶׁתֶּחֱשַׁךְ. וּמֵאֵימָתַי מְטַמֵּא בְגָדִים? מִשֶּׁיֵּצֵא חוּץ לְחוֹמַת יְרוּשָׁלַיִם. רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן אוֹמֵר: מִשְּׁעַת דְּחִיָּתוֹ לַצּוּק.
What did he do? He parted the strip of red wool; half of it he tied to the rock and half he tied between its two horns, and pushed it backwards. It tumbled down, and before it reached halfway down the mountain, it was torn limb from limb. He would return and sit under the [shade of the] last booth until it became dark.  And from when does he contaminate clothing? As soon as he gets outside the wall of Jerusalem. R' Shimon says: From the time he pushes him [down] to the precipice.
Yoma6: 7
בָּא לוֹ אֵצֶל פָּר וְשָׂעִיר הַנִּשְׂרָפִין. קְרָעָן וְהוֹצִיא אֶת אֵמוּרֵיהֶן. נְתָנָן בְּמָגִיס וְהִקְטִירָן עַל גַּבֵּי הַמִּזְבֵּחַ. קְלָעָן בְּמִקְלָעוֹת וְהוֹצִיאָן לְבֵית הַשְּׂרֵפָה. וּמֵאֵימָתַי מְטַמְּאִין בְּגָדִים? מִשֶּׁיֵּצְאוּ חוּץ לְחוֹמַת הָעֲזָרָה. רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן אוֹמֵר: מִשֶּׁיַּצִּית הָאוּר בְּרֻבָּן.
He came to the ox and he-goat which were to be burned. He tore them and removed their sacrificial parts. He put them in a plate and burned them upon the [Outer] Altar. He intertwined [the limbs of the ox and he-goat] into twists and removed them to the place of burning.  And from when do these [people] contaminate clothing? From when they go outside the wall of the Courtyard. R' Shimon says: From when the fire catches onto the greater part of [the limbs].
Yoma6: 8
אָמְרוּ לוֹ לְכֹהֵן גָּדוֹל: ,,הִגִּיעַ שָׂעִיר לַמִּדְבָּר”. וּמִנַּיִן הָיוּ יוֹדְעִין שֶׁהִגִּיעַ שָׂעִיר לַמִּדְבָּר? דַּרְכִּיּוֹת הָיוּ עוֹשִׂין, וּמְנִיפִין בַּסּוּדָרִין, וְיוֹדְעִין שֶׁהִגִּיעַ שָׂעִיר לַמִּדְבָּר. אָמַר רַבִּי יְהוּדָה: וַהֲלֹא סִימָן גָּדוֹל הָיָה לָהֶם: מִירוּשָׁלַיִם וְעַד בֵּית חִדּוּדוֹ שְׁלֹשָׁה מִילִין; הוֹלְכִין מִיל, וְחוֹזְרִין מִיל, וְשׁוֹהִין כְּדֵי מִיל. וְיוֹדְעִין שֶׁהִגִּיעַ שָׂעִיר לַמִּדְבָּר. רַבִּי יִשְׁמָעֵאל אוֹמֵר: וַהֲלֹא סִמָּן אַחֵר הָיָה לָהֶם? לָשׁוֹן שֶׁל זְהוֹרִית הָיָה קָשׁוּר עַל פִּתְחוֹ שֶׁל הֵיכָל, וּכְשֶׁהִגִּיעַ שָׂעִיר לַמִּדְבָּר הָיָה הַלָּשׁוֹן מַלְבִּין, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: ,,אִם יִהְיוּ חֲטָאֵיכֶם כַּשָּׁנִים כַּשֶּׁלֶג יַלְבִּינוּ”.
They said to the Kohen Gadol, “The he-goat has reached the wilderness.” And how did they know that the he-goat had reached the wilderness? They set up watch-posts and waved cloths, and thus they knew that the he-goat had reached the wilderness.  R' Yehudah said: But they had a dependable signal: From Jerusalem to the place of the he-goat's sharp peak was three mil; they walked a mil, returned a mil, and tarried for [the time needed to walk] a mil. Thus they knew that the he-goat had reached the wilderness.  R' Yishmael says: But did they not have another sign? A strip of red wool was tied atop the Temple entrance, and when the he-goat reached the wilderness the strip of wool whitened, as it has been said: [Even] if your sins will be like crimson thread they will become white as snow.

בָּא לוֹ כֹהֵן גָּדוֹל לִקְרוֹת. אִם רָצָה לִקְרוֹת בְּבִגְדֵי בוּץ, קוֹרֵא; וְאִם לֹא, קוֹרֵא בְאִצְטְלִית לָבָן מִשֶּׁלּוֹ. חַזַּן הַכְּנֶסֶת נוֹטֵל סֵפֶר תּוֹרָה וְנוֹתְנוֹ לְרֹאשׁ הַכְּנֶסֶת; וְרֹאשׁ הַכְּנֶסֶת נוֹתְנוֹ לַסְּגָן; וְהַסְּגָן נוֹתְנוֹ לְכֹהֵן גָּדוֹל. וְכֹהֵן גָּדוֹל עוֹמֵד, וּמְקַבֵּל וְקוֹרֵא עוֹמֵד. וְקוֹרֵא ,,אַחֲרֵי מוֹת” וְ,,אַךְ בֶּעָשׂוֹר”. וְגוֹלֵל סֵפֶר תּוֹרָה, וּמַנִּיחוֹ בְחֵיקוֹ, וְאוֹמֵר: ,,יוֹתֵר מִמַּה שֶּׁקָּרָאתִי לִפְנֵיכֶם כָּתוּב כָּאן”. וּ,,בֶעָשׂוֹר” שֶׁבְּחוֹמֶשׁ הַפְּקוּדִים קוֹרֵא עַל פֶּה.  וּמְבָרֵךְ עָלֶיהָ שְׁמוֹנֶה בְרָכוֹת: עַל הַתּוֹרָה; וְעַל הָעֲבוֹדָה; וְעַל הַהוֹדָאָה; וְעַל מְחִילַת הֶעָוֹן; וְעַל הַמִּקְדָּשׁ בִּפְנֵי עַצְמוֹ; וְעַל יִשְׂרָאֵל בִּפְנֵי עַצְמָן; וְעַל יְרוּשָׁלַיִם בִּפְנֵי עַצְמָהּ; וְעַל הַכֹּהֲנִים בִּפְנֵי עַצְמָן; וְעַל שְׁאָר הַתְּפִלָּה.
The Kohen Gadol came to read. If he wished to read [wearing] his linen vestments, he may read; and if not, he would read while wearing his own white robe.  The attendant of the synagogue takes a Torah Scroll and gives it to the head of the synagogue; the head of the synagogue gives it to the Deputy [Kohen Gadol]; and the Deputy gives it to the Kohen Gadol. The Kohen Gadol stands up, accepts [the scroll] and reads while standing.  He reads [from] Acharei Mos and [the portion that begins] But on the tenth. Then he rolls up the Torah Scroll, puts it in his bosom, and says, “More than I have read to you is written here”; and he recites by heart from the Book of Numbers, beginning On the tenth.  Then he recites over it eight benedictions: for the Torah; for the [sacrificial] service; for the thanksgiving; for the forgiving of sins; for the Temple separately; for Israel separately; for Jerusalem separately; for the Kohanim separately; and for the rest of the prayer.
